Yes, I imported French limestone fireplace around me. I had a fire last year and got covered with soot and I entertain so much just about every possible thing has been spilled on the cabinet. I love a product I discovered last year after the fire to keep the stones clean, smoke free and without damage.
It is biodegradable, fume free, chemical-free and odorless. Called Krud Kutter and you can find it at Lowes in the cleaning aisle.
It operates throughout the house, too, and can be diluted according to package instructions, depending on the work you do. I used the straight to remove heavy smoke on the stone, glass and metal doors surrounding and took right off with little effort.
